Climate Change & Travel Tweets

About this project

This website is part of my PhD project in which I am looking at travellers' perceptions of climate change and how this influences their own travel experiences.

  • What do you think about climate change?
  • Do you consider your carbon footprint when planning a trip?
  • Or, do you think tourism has nothing to do with climate change?

I would like to hear about it, whether you are just dreaming about travelling, currently travelling, or reflecting on your last trip. All perceptions are welcome, regardless if you think climate change is man-made or not, or not happening at all. And by the way, every participant will enter a prize-draw

Therefore, if you are interested in discussing climate change & travelling issues or just what to share some of your thoughts about the topic, I want to invite you to participate. Answer the questionnaire, create an account and join the discussions with other participants, and/or if you prefer a one-on-one conversation with me, send me an email (u.kachel@griffith.edu.au). To see how you can participate, have a look at 'Your Participation'.

ABOUT ME

My name is Ulrike Kachel and I am a PhD candidate at Griffith University, located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I am conducting this research as part of my PhD. I am originally from Germany and moved to Australia in 2005 to do a Masters degree in ecotourism. At that time I wasn't even thinking of going further and doing my PhD, but here I am now.

Before I moved to Australia I worked in the Internet industry, and I guess that's why my PhD research is Internet-based. With this research platform I want to engage with people from all over the world to discuss their perceptions of climate change and how this might influence their own travel decisions. Please join me as your contribution is important for the project.

Feel also free to have a look at my Project Snippets, where you can find updates on what I am doing and how the project is progressing.
