Climate Change & Travel Tweets

Second stage – targeting a wider audience with concrete questions

As previous recruitment and discussions were both sparse, I needed to change my strategy. How can I make my participants focus on travel related climate change issues? I guess I have to ask some concrete questions. Well, now you might think ‘Why haven’t you ask them before?’. I have, in the forum; however, as I wanted participants to drive the discussions I didn’t ask a lot of questions. One thing important for my research is that I am not testing hypotheses or existing models but want to see what themes will emerge in the discussions around climate change and travelling. With other words I am not interested in quantitative results (numbers) but qualitative findings (themes or meanings). Well, I don’t want to bore you with too many details, but I am more than happy to talk about it further via email. So drop me a line.

I decided to apply the Webform functionality that Drupal, the open-source platform I am using, offers. Webform allows you to develop all sorts of forms and was, after a lot of try and error, quite useful for the development of my online questionnaire ‘Have your say’. Still have to do a bit of testing and get some feedback before I will send out invitations to participate, however, already received two submissions without any advertising. So, hopefully, I will receive a good response and some great input to my research.
